Dominance TestingIs your hand, foot, eye and ear all the same dominance? They should be!
Do this simple test to see...
Which hand do you write, color, or shake with?
Which eye do you put up to a kaleidoscope, telescope, or wink with?
Which foot do you use first to kick or to stand on one foot?
Which ear do you put the telephone up to?
Play charades and act like you are doing things like the activities above, and see which side of the body (right vs. left) you or your child uses.
It should be all the same side for the fastest motor and sensory processing.
Mixed dominance can indicate immaturity in the nervous system and possible bilateral coordination delays that can interfere with development and learning.
Mixed dominance can slow down handwriting, reading, dressing skills and motor coordination.
An OT and PT evaluation can help determine if there are delays that can be helped. |
